Athletics and Sprints

Hello readers and welcome to back to my blog. For the past couple of days we have been doing Athletics. This week Wednesday it was the last day of Athletics but I didn't come first place in long jump, high jump, discus, distance running, shot put and sprints. For sprints, we didn't do sprints because it was raining. We did an even more fun activity. Anyway.

This week Thursday the whole school did sprints. It went from year 1's, years 2's, year 3's, year 4's' year 5's and then year 6's. My first race I came 2nd and the other girl beat me by teeny weeny bit. The people that come 1st, 2nd and 3rd place they get into the finals. So me, Emily, Love, Kelis, Leala and Angel got into the finals. I came 3rd place in the finals. I was so nervous about getting into zones because I thought that we had to play touch or rugby or that kind of stuff. Then Mr Taylor was handing out the forms for the people who got into zones. Me, Emily and Angel got notices. I asked Emily what we were going to do there and she said sprints. My paper said 60 metres of running, Emily's one said 80 metres and Angels one said 1000 metres. I was so confused because Angel came 3rd and she had the most metres. I came 2nd and I had the least metres. Anyways, I asked my mum and she said I can go to zones. I was so excited.

Raisin Moment In Time

Hello readers and welcome back to my blog. The whole class had to use their senses and they had to use it on a raisin. We had to smell it, hear it, feel it, see, and taste it. Here is my story. Hop you like it. Feel free to ask any questions, please give me some advice if you have some.

Mrs Mclachlan is unwrapping the big raisin box and I know that it is plastic, it is so annoying and painful. The shake of the box sounds like little mice wanting to get out. The opening of the box sounds like 2 quick clicks. I have a raisin in my hand right now. It looks like a small kid's pancake because it is not a perfect circle. It is brown and red-ish like Autumn leaves. It is really lumpy and squishy too.  It smells like oil. It feels lumpy, squishy, small and wrinkly. It is soft as a pillow. I want to squeeze everything out of it but I can’t. Mrs Mclachlan said we can eat it after we smelt it, heard it, saw it and felt it. It tastes like sweet candy, it is really sweet.

First Swimming Session for Term 4

Hello readers and welcome back to my blog. Today we had our first swimming session at Canterbury swim school. We had to get into groups and 1 group has one lane to practice on. They had 2 pools with some lanes. 1 pool was warm and the other was cold. Our group was in the warm pool. Each group had one swimming instructor.  The instructors name is Huia and he was a man. We learnt how to swim.

1. First we had to get boards.

2. We had to practice how to make big circles with our arms.

3. Once we got the circles, the instructor showed us how to breath while swimming. Stand on the floor, keep your right ear on your shoulder, take a deep breath, then put your head in the water, then blow bubbles for 4 seconds. Then you can come back up and do the same thing again. 

4. After we learnt that we had to practice doing the circles and the blowing bubbles at the same time but you had to walk.

5. Then we were doing the real thing and started doing kicking.

6. I was kind of doing it wrong so the instructor helped me for a while. He said I was a quick learner. 

7. After a while I got it and we went into the cold side which was longer. The instructor was holding the end of our boards and was slowly pushing us to the end of the pool. I went all the way without stopping. 

I loved our first session!

My 10th Birthday

 Hello readers and welcome back to my blog. 6 days ago was my birthday and I got a lot of presents. There were only 2 packages but there were a lot of things in there. Lots of people came to our house. We invited our neighbours to come, Kev, Kelly, Chloe, Kaiden, my cousins that live 3 minutes away from our house and they bought us a cake from The CheeseCake Shop, Ahyan, Asheem and their mum, other people came and they live 1 minute away from our house, Zara, her mum and dad, my cousins that live in Ashburton, my grandma, my little cousin Sameeha and her mum and dad.  Sameeha and them brought me a package that had 3 dresses, one dress had a bonus matching scrunchie. The dress and scrunchie was dark green with little white flowers. One of the dresses was white with orange, green, and big flowers. The last dress is fully peach with a daisy. The package also had a white pop socket for my phone. It had white little stars, little moons and white glitter. But my phone case wasn’t white so I swapped it for my sister’s one which was light purple with the exact same stuff in it. But it was all purple. They also gave me black pants. They also gave me 7 scrunchies now I think I have 16, 17 or 18 scrunchies all together. They gave my sister and my brother some gifts too because they didn’t want to be mean. They gave my mum a box of 4 different coloured perfumes. Ahyan’s mum bought me and my mum diaries. It was Disney related. My birthday was so fun!

Student Summit

Hello readers and welcome back to my blog. Our whole class get's to do Student Summit so we are really lucky. Student Summit is really fun, there are 4 sessions and there are different presentations. There is Mihi Maker, How to use Prezi, Bitable, Canva, Pixton Comics, Suped-up Slides, Easel.ly, Stop-Motion, Storyboard That, Marvellous Miro, Embedding Blogs, Creative and Unscreen and Removed. There are a lot. We had to press on the link that we were in and then it would take us to google meet. There will be 2 or 3 people that will be talking and teaching and those people made their presentation. After we are done the meet we have to fill out a reflection, like a form. We have to right in it what we think of it, how they made it to teach us, when we will use the toolkit and what they can do to improve it.  

1.Session 1 was Mihi Maker, the people that made Mihi Maker was Mikaylah and Taimana. I really liked that one because they teached me how to make a pepeha and remember it. I think they made a animation. They did make 1 tiny mistake and that was spelling, they spelled figure into finger. For the first question, I said I like it, for the second, I said with a animation, for the third  I said when I am ready to make a pepeha and for the last I said just fix the finger word. 

2. Session 2 was Easel.ly. The people that were making this presentation were Grace and Abby from another school. Easel.ly is a really cool app, you can make posters or anything. I really liked that one because I can do that now when I get bored. For the first question I said I really liked it, for the next I said they went on Easel.ly, for the third I said when I am bored and for the last I said nothing. 

3. For session 3 was Embedding Blogs, I really liked it because I can do more stuff to my blog, and they didn't make any mistakes. 

4. Session 4 was Mihi Maker again so I said the same things. I don't know why I got into the Mihi Maker again but I am really pleased to do the Summit.
